Weekly Market at Thouars

Thouars covered market

Thouars is a medium-sized maeket town which is worth a visit if only for the market which is held each Friday.
On approaching the town on the Parthenay  road there is an traffic island with a sign to the 'Old Town' This leads uphill past the 'Orangery' which is part of the old chatau, and on to a smaal car park which  always has spaces.  The car park affords an excelent view over the town and of the  river Thouare and it is only a five minute  walk up into the town and the market which is traditionally french and of a good size.  There is also a 'Resistance Museum@ close to the Orangery which is worth a visit but no explanations in English.
